Doratch Dokodemo Door
Okay, this thing is hilarious – an extremely Japanese item, a limited-edition full dot matrix watch released in 1997 and based on a very popular manga and anime character. Doraemon is a time-travelling robotic cat born in 2112, and the Dokodemo Door (aka Anywhere Door) is a magical portal allowing its user to travel wherever they wish. By default this watch doesn’t display the time; you have to hit a button to open the door. There’s a longer animation if you hit another button which is really fun; snoozing Doraemon is woken up and is angry about it, then shows you his watch and the display zooms in on it to display the time, neato. Apparently you can get a daily fortune (in Japanese, of course) if you hit the top left button three times. It also wants to know your birthday in the settings. The straps on these have nearly all rotted away; this one has been fitted with an expanding bracelet in a suitably cheesy style.
