Released in January 1980, this one is quite a classic. The crystal is a delight to behold, with its mirrored stripes around the dark blue pattern, which is set in a slim stainless steel screwback case with sprung pushers… Like most watches of the period there’s no mention of water resistance despite the case quite clearly being decently waterproofed. The intricate folded bracelet is in great condition and has a lovely feel to it, while the module itself is rather interesting… Virtually every watch with such a calendar display employs a duplex LCD, but this one cleverly arranges the digits around the calendar dates to fit it all into a single layer. This results in an uncharacteristically large and square time display, leaving no room to do 24h time, and with very little if any of that near-ubiquitous digital slant. Despite the calendar being viewable from 1900 to 2099, the actual timekeeping calendar rolls over to 1970 at the end of 2029, so at that point the year will need to be set to 1974 or 2002. A great watch in rather nice condition, this one has had the front polariser replaced due to browning adhesive.
