Casio T-2000 #1

Released in 1982, this dictionary watch was a tour de force, showcasing Casio’s chip tech of the day. This beast has a lot of wrist presence, oozing Casio’s early 80s design language in a beefy slab of metal and glass. The front-firing speaker (magnetic diaphragm unit rather than piezo wafer) can be set to make either a typical beep-beep, or a lovely ding-dong for the hourly signal and alarms, which have the labels, ALARM, MEETING,WAKE UP, plus three more different ones in Japanese. The 1/10s stopwatch- (so cool) has a little animated running stick figure,  and the unusual location of the light – top centre – is glorious. A real collector’s item.
