This watch wowed them at the 1984 Consumer Electronics Show and won Casio a prize, the details of which are lost in the mists of time. This one has the largest and clearest screen in the whole DB series, and oozes a feeling of Shōwa era quality despite the chromed base metal case, mineral glass and folded metal bracelet. Absolutely lovely clean and crisp design without any arbitrary clutter. A mark of their double-vintage status is the expired calendar, which must now be set to 28 years ago. The combination of metal, glass, incandescent lighting, and a full-width dot matrix sets this one apart. Aside from the databank function, there’s a daily alarm and four other alarms which can be labelled and set to a particular date, or the same date every month. The countdown timer can be set up to an hour, with a resolution of one minute. This module beeps with every mode change but lacks the different tone upon returning to the time found on later models, although the tone of the beep is more of a lower-pitched chirp than is typical, and works with the metal and glass to give this watch an old-school vibe.
