Meta ME-120
The little-known Meta series, a JDM-only sub-brand only covering five models, was a prime example of late-90s Japanese futurism. The Meta series combined experimental case shapes with premium metal finishes to epitomise the pre-millennium cyber aesthetic. This model from 1998 is a rather tidy thing in metal and glass, with a lovely integrated mesh bracelet featuring a highly unusual sliding and folding clasp. It’s a databank, but not a Databank – it just says Data Memory 30. It also calls itself a world time watch, but is more of a dual time watch, although the various time zones are accessible via an adjustment menu. The large central time display is illuminated by an auto-light EL, with the auto function toggled by a long-press. The time remains visible in all modes except the databank. This example is in fabulous condition with no obvious damage or wear.
