A totally complete groupset, except for hubs (you shouldn’t want that awful experiment of the FH-7800 anyway, with its silly construction and incompatible freehub splines). Taken in 2022 from a 2006 Giant TCR LE in fabulous condition, showing barely any brake wear on the rims, this is quite possibly the original chain. The most noteworthy point regarding this particular groupset is in relation to the grease Shimano always employed in its STI levers, which after a decade or two would inevitably turn gummy and gradually cause the levers to stop shifting reliably, and eventually at all. These levers have been fully overhauled by an experienced and qualified bike mechanic; the old grease removed, and replaced with Chain-L #5, an extremely sticky chain oil designed with all the right properties for this application, and which should maintain function indefinitely. New old stock hoods have been fitted, while the original hoods (which are still in fairly decent condition) are also provided. Additionally, the brake calipers have been overhauled, with great care taken to securely lock in optimal bearing preload in the pivots (Dura-Ace brakes feature two thrust bearings, each with 20 tiny balls between two stainless steel washers), to provide smooth and rattle-free operation with optimal modulation for precise braking control. The entire groupset has been thoroughly cleaned.
